About
24 Athletics believes that sports are a vehicle for personal growth and social change. Our mission is to empower young athletes to become confident, resilient, and authentic individuals using a coaching philosophy informed by sport social work.
Our Founding Story
24 Athletics Founder, Liz Sack, MSW played four years of collegiate field hockey at Syracuse University. During Liz’s time there the team won the school’s first women’s national championship in 2015. Liz now works as the Associate Head Field Hockey Coach at Georgetown University.
After several years of collegiate coaching Liz identified that many athletes, beginner and high performance levels alike, thrive in player-empowering environments. To better equip herself on the coaching front, Liz completed a Master of Social Work program with a specialization in athletics. The impact that social work informed coaching can leave on players and staff is endlessly beneficial. Providing player-empowering field hockey experiences to Northern Virginia and the greater field hockey community is paramount to 24 Athletics.
These experiences inspired Liz to launch 24 Athletics.
